Hi
We had some good news this week in the form of the VAT refund on our boat we have been fighting HMR&C for this since we placed the order on the boat in March of last year and have waited from July when they issued a brief to say they had changed the interpretation of a qualifying ship to include a boat that is your principal private residence. at last it has arrived, it has taken the builder this long to get it back from the HMR&C. I can now stop juggling with our finances quite so much and at least can put a couple of the balls down. We took the boat for a pump-out (no choice as we were overfull) and then out to Tesco’s Monday to do the shopping high winds and an increasing stream made for an interesting outing., you should have seen Carol’s face as we came back in ! and when we backed into our berth she had the rope on the first bollard that fast it prevented me from reversing in. Then yesterday I had to help next door with his pumpout as he is a little inexperienced wind always gusts when you don’t want it to. See you around D&C

Hi all
Not a lot happening at the moment as we are restricted to the Marina because of the seasonal works on the river, the locks below us are closed and we can only go two locks upriver before hitting a stoppage. Last week my computer suffered a failure due to corrupted files in Windows and would not start freezing during the start-up procedure. We took a taxi to PC World (£30) ouch! where I bought a copy of Windows 7 and a new I terabyte hard-drive so I could retrieve the data off my old one. I must say the installation went like a dream and I am really impressed with the new operating system. It installed with no issues at all and is much faster and more stable than Vista.
We will be coming up to Staffordshire to visit the family for a few days at the begining of December and will try to catch up with as many old friends as possible while we are there.
Inevitable outside Tesco’s
Ta Ta for now
